
Is motivation or discipline more important when it comes to building a physique like Josh Myers? On his Instagram the online coach compares motivation with discipline:
“People always ask me ‘Josh, how do you stay motivated?’ or ‘how do you get motivation?’ I always give the same answer. I do not feel motivated all the time. If you don’t feel motivated all the time, don’t feel bad. Everybody feels like that. Nobody is in a perpetual state of motivation.
The difference is, I have discipline. You need to have discipline. Discipline means that you do what you’re supposed to do whether you feel like it or not. With discipline, it doesn’t matter how you feel. You do what you’re supposed to do, because you’re supposed to do it.
Discipline is like a muscle… The more you use it, the stronger it gets. But you only use discipline when you don’t feel motivated. So if you don’t feel motivated, you should feel happy that you get to train your discipline muscle!”
